One of the first phones was only capable of storing thirty numbers. Now the storage of a smart phone can hold dozens of apps. All the apps a smart phone can hold is now replacing other modern day tools, which can make every day life easier.
Before smart phones, when someone went on vacation and they wanted to take both videos and pictures they would have to take two separate devices, both of which are relatively large. Now with smart phones a person does not have to carry all the extra devices. Both a camera and video recorder are built into the phone. Phone cameras are starting to replace point-and-shoot cameras and video recorders (Ray, 2016). Smart phones are not only replacing hand held cameras but they are also replacing paper maps. Individuals can now use GPS systems to get from one location to the next. Some upgrades versions even give the best route based on traffic (Poyntz, 2010). The smart phone has been able to place calendars, alarms clocks, calculators and other beneficial devices into a device that can fit in the palm of your hand.

One luxury that smart phones can offer if that they are capable of having social media apps. Due to data plans the Internet can be accessed almost anywhere (Jung, 2014). As long as there is service anyone can use his or her phones to surf the web. This allows people to receive breaking news or other important events that the user desires (Herrmann, 2013). Individuals are also able to keep updated with the lives of those within their social circle or even celebrities. Smart phone apps also include Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (Price & Dahl, 2016).
